Cham chain tensioner question
Hey guys... does the cctl make noise at idle?? I couldnt find an answer to this... so i'm looking for some help. I know i have a bit of a cctl problem.. cuz it does rattle a bit on decel. The reason i ask is because when i get the bike nice and warm..and then when it idles... it makes a noise... not really a tick... more like a chicka-chicka or something. When i pull in the clutch it is still there... and when i put it in gear the nois is still there. But when i let the clutch out and the chain tensions up it goes away. So there is no noise under pull or when i am accelerating. I don't think it is engine related because i don't notice it increasing with rpm or anything. It seems to clear out when i rev.. I have a 99 cbr f4 with 14000km.. or 8000 miles about. Thanks

RE: Cham chain tensioner question
A CCT has nothing to do with the clutch or what gear you are in. The stock unit is based on oil pressure, so the more oil pressure being pumped, the more pressure is put on the chain. It would make sense that at idle you hear the noise but as RPMs increase it goes away. The biggest tell tale sign is that when you shut the bike off for maybe a minute then start it back up you hear a bad rattle coming from the engine that will go away after a few seconds or when you give it a little gas.
