chain link count
ive got an f4i i did a 520 conversion on, i went one down in the front and two up in the rear for sprockets. the gearing is a little tall for my liking and id like to come back down with it. somebody once told me something about how the chain link count has to be an odd
number. i want to go back to a 16 tooth front sprocket but im not sure if i had to add or remove links, or is it a better idea to just go back down on the rear sprocket.

# of links will always be even. Are you going to order a new set (chain and sprockets)? Usually they'll come with extra chain and you break it where you need too. If you don't have a lot of miles on 'em and just want to go up 1 tooth in front then you can prolly get away with using the same chain.
not planning on getting a new kit just a new sprocket. most likely a front sprocket because its cheaper. but im just hoping ill be able to use the chain the way it is without adding or subtracting links
dont know if you will be able to do that but just get the sprocket make sure it is a 520 a 525 wont fit with that chain. and try it if you flaired the chain you will have to get a new master link too those are only like a dollar if you used the e clip i dont think you will have to
No need to break the chain -- just loosen it up enough to get the front sprocket off. Might have to pull it off the rear sprocket to get enough slack. If the wear indicator for the chain is towards the middle then you should have plenty of chain to go up 1 tooth in front.
