The older 900RR engines bolt right in......well kinda. You have to work it a little but there isnt' that much required. The newer engines are mounted differently and require a great deal of modification. The older 900RR engine is actually a pretty popular swap around here for the F2/F3 guys.

Well, make sure that you know what you are doing before you just start taking crap apart. I myself am looking for a 900rr engine to put in my bike. It definitely is a large project and I know I will be buying another manual or two and doing some research before taking my bike apart. Good place to start would be buying the books for the respective things you will be doing and going over the engines and processes involved in taking them apart, maint. etc. It would be a shame to waste your time and not come out with a nice bike or destroy parts that you just bought. Once I find an engine and the other things I need I am going to take pictures as I go and hopefully can post it up on here. Finding an engine is the major pain for me though. I'm not the best at bike mechanics, but I have people with me who can cover my *** in the subjects I don't know about. Also, talking to a nearby mechanic could save you time and money.
