Hi, I have a 96 cbr 600 f3 and im trying to get the timing correct. I have everything lined up. I have the 1 cylinder at tdc and rotor lined up with the T.. I have intake sprocket lined parallel with the head. But the exhaust cam sprocket is a little off. My question is can i just take the cct back off and take the exhaust cam sprocket off and leave the crank lined up with the T and the cam intake sprocket parralle with the head but move the exhaust camshaft with my hand a little till I get it parallel with the head.?

 

Yes of course. remember you can do whatever you want with the cams in whatever order(although Haynes I think recommends one of the cam to be linedup first not sure which one though)but at the end of the day they should line up

 

I ended up having the cams off several times to juggle my existing shims. I didn't take the sprockets off the cams, and after doing it a few times I could get the cams lined up in a minute or two. That might be easier than taking the sprockets off?

Thanks everyone for the replies. I finally have the cams in time with the crank. And I have the engine mounted back inside the frame. All I have to do now is hook everything back up and hope it runs.lol
