Default Break In Oil

Just bought a 07 1000, Time for oil change, This is the most confusing part of owning a bike. Some say synthetic, some say the rings won't settle properly. Others say there full of ****. I have read all these articles about different kinds of oil. I'm to the point of going to the local parts store and using flipping a coin method to pick some out. I'm not the one to have to order oil from a parts store and pay $8 a quart when the **** is more than likely made at the same place like automobile tires, suntan lotion. Anyone have a good all around oil that don't take a week to get here and a weeks pay to buy. Something that is simple and affordable.

Thanks again for a kick *** forum to discuss these issues.

I run amsoil in all of my vehicles and haven't had a problem yet. My dodge has 160,000 miles on it and the only work i've had to do to it has been a new timing chain and the normal routine maintenance, brakes, tires.... I went synthetic on the CBR after the first oil change and haven't had any issues either. Firgure if cars are coming from the factory with synthetic then it can't hurt. If you take care of your ride then you shouldn't have any problems is how I look at it.

FWIW do not use synthetic at break in. Even the Amsoil website tells you that their product should be used after break in. As asked, synthetic is made to reduce friction more than standard oil and it's true that the rings need to seat properly along with everything else in the engine. (clutch plates, etc)

Tons of opinions and no right or wrong answer. I run Motul semi-synthetic blendwhich is easy to find at a goodbike shop (6 bucks a qt). Honda says to stay away from fullsynthetic altogetherbut once I hit about 15Kmiles I'll probably run it. I agree with Mikeinctown, stick with a non synthetic for at leastthe first few thou for break-in.

Same here. After debating it and using it for a while, i decided that chances are i'm not going to have any of my vehicles/bikes long enough to see any advantage from synthetic.

Congrats on the new bike...it's one of my personal favorites.
