Did you check the connection? There is a speed sensor that is attached to the engine (I think it reads the RPM).Locate the starter...then look a bit further towards the rear of the engine, it is a "thing" attached with 2 bolts to the top of the engine case (located over the drive sprocket). Make sure wire isn't broken, make sure it is still connected (connector is actually located closer towards the battery box). Good luck.

By "fireblade" engine, do you mean a 900rr engine? The engine for the F3 has an electronic speed sensor on top of the motor. '94 and earlier 900rr's have a mechanical speed sensor that runs off the front axle. '95 and later 900rr engines have an electronic speed sensor located on the front sprocket cover. We really need to know what year your guages are, and what year and cc size your engine is.

Hi.
Im not sure of the exact year of the engine but i believe its a 900rr,i guess its 95> as there is a speed sensor located above the front sprocket cover.
The gauges are the original CBR600 ones.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks Mark.

On the clutch-basket side of the motor (right hand side if sitting on bike), the size of your engine should be stamped into the block.
If you have a 900rr engine with a front-sprocket-cover-electronic speed sensor and original F3 guages, there shouldn't be too much problem getting them to work together. Is there a speed sensor installed on your bike's front sprocket cover?
If there is, is the end of the cable plugged in to anything? The actual speed sensor has abouta 2 or 3 feet long cable coming out of it. On the end of the cable is a small harness plug with three wires going into it. They are pink, green, and black.
I'll try to help you out as much as I can, but if you could post pix, things would be a lot easier.
Basically, the first thing I would do is check to make sure the speed sensor is actually plugged in to the guage cluster. If it's not, and the harnesses don't plug directly into each other, you're going to have to figure out what color wire from the speed sensor matches up with the wires in the guage cluster and splice them together. You'll also probably need a Speedo Healer.

Are you sure that's the end of the cable from the speed sensor? I have a '95 900rr speed sensor, and it only has a 3-pin connector; yours looks like it has at least 5. Follow the route of the speed sensor cable and make sure it's plugged in. To be honest, I'm not sure why it's not working if it's plugged in. Could be a bad sensor or speedo. Have you checked all your fuses? From the looks of the wiring diagram, the speed sensor does NOT plug directly into the guage cluster. Looksto me like it plugs into the wiring harness somewhere before that.

Hi.
Ive checked for power at speed sensor 3 pin multi plug got 12v,checked for power at speedometer got power there as well, cheked for continuity between pink wire at speeedo and speed sensor all ok.
Finally spun back wheel and got fluctuations between zero and 5volts at speedometer on pink wire.
I guess the speed sensor is ok but the speedo isnt.
Thanks for all your help.

Hi again.
Had the clocks checked they all tested out ok,but still no speedo????????????????????????????
I have occiliscoped the speed sensor and i am geeting 0-5v.
The guy who checked the clocks suggested they might be the wrong clocks for the bike.
He seems to think the clocks fitted should have a speed sensor fitted on the gearbox and not the front sprocket.
Will i have to get fireblade clocks????????.
I really am scratching my head as everthing checks out.
Oh almost forgot i reset trip counter and covered approx 12 milers however the trip read 4 miles????.
Any ideas welcomed.
Regards Mark.

Sounds like you need a speedo-healer. How fast have you gone with the bike like this? I normally wouldn't recommend this, but try going on the interstate and speed up to what you think is 80MPH or so. Look to see if the speedo is registering anything. If it's registering like 10MPH, then you know the speedo works and you just need a speedo-healer.
Speedo-healers are available with adjustability +/- 999%. I would suggest contacting them and see what they recommend trying.
