Default brands u trust

When you guys replace your chains, brakes, spark plugs, tires, change your oil...etc What do you guys go with? I dont like to overpay for stuff, but I also dont want to buy 2nd rate quality.

This is a pretty open ended topic, asking what people's favorite brand of motorcycle stuff would be like asking people what their favorite food is, there is a lot of bias and opinion when it comes to brands and you will probably never get a definite answer. Like krash was saying, a good general rule is that if a part is made good then they will charge accordingly. I know this isn't always the case, but you get what you pay for most of the time. Do it nice, or do it twice![sm=smiley20.gif]

Chains I don't know about that one. I usually go with some JT sprockets, making sure that i get steel front and rear sprockets since it is a harder metal and will wear a lot slower than aluminum. But if you lube your chain well the aluminum will last. So you get what you want depending on your maintenance characteristic, and laziness. Chains though....do not go down to a 520 conversion...even though those chains are a lot better than before still a 525 or 530 have a higher tensional strength.....you can get a cheaper 530 chain that will stretch less than a pricer 520 chain. But a good DID, RK, or what is in a Parts-Unlimited book will do just fine. As for brakes...i don't know OEM seems to work best for me. Always fit, have the metal shims on them when your application needs them. And for some reason i just get a slight pulse when I use EBC brakes, until they bed in. More important to go with the proper material than brands!. Sintered brakes replace with sintered and not organic. Plugs always get NGK or Denso, oil is up to you, any oil that is designed for a motorcycle will work and oil filters is up to you too, OEM works but I like th K&N. I guess that is my insight. Hope it helps

I totally agree with Surf...do not go with a 520 chain conversion. There was one on my bike when i got it and I am going to replace the whole setup with the 530. Sprockets wear way to fast. I like the D.I.D chains. JT sprockets are good. I also like Dunlop Sportmax Qualifier tires. They have good grip and last good for a sportbike tire. I get 5000 miles out of my tires. And I found the rear for $128 with free shipping.

RK Chains, DID Chains, M1 Oil/Filter, HGP for alot of other things such as brakes, bearings, seals, etc etc. Alot of myparts a get through Honda, orif it is something like NGK from Honda, I will getthe same thing else where cheaper... Continental for tires....

So far, I like Metzeler tires, Honda factory parts, Mobil 1 Synthetic oil, proton flush mount front lites, Rizoma (I hear) makes excelent quality items, I've heard good things about Vortex sprockets, And... well, pretty much every other part I've put on my bike. (you can see the list by clicking on my name and looking at my profile)
