Default Blinker... melted?

So I was looking over my 96 CBR 600 f3 after a ride today and one of my aftermarket flush mount front blinkers appears to have melted. The plastic casing has folded in on itself and it doesn't turn on anymore. Any ideas?

I'm hoping it's not a short.

Is blinker led or filament bulb?

It's filament I believe. and the plastic is smoked - IDK if that is important at all.

Get some of those neat new LED type lights and be like the cools kids. You're going to have to replace it/them anyways so why not upgrade?
LED lights run cooler that filament lights which can get VERY hot, specially if you forget to turn them off (not cancelling turn signal).
They also use less power, are brighter, and last an extremely looooooong time unlike the incandescent kinds.

Proton flush mounts FTW. I love mine, and you can make them strobe, soo damn bright.

Was bike blinker wire up for running lights? Meaning stay on, then blink when press signal L/R.

If yes, then filament bulb & housing is not meant for running light set up....you must use led blinker because those stay on & will not get too hot.

Like this picture:, you see how blinker is wire to be running lights....so if light stays on, it will get HOT! which an older filament bulb is not meant to be use this way. Thus melt the plastic...These ones I use is LED so they don't get HOT....

oh....and if you install the new LED blinkers, you'll notice flash speed is super fast. Suggest to get a led ready RELAY sold by superbrightled.com, or install resistor....
