Default Blew oil filter gasket.

Just wanted to know if this has happened to anybody else.I have been doing track riding mostly on my 954,on 8/26/12 I was riding in A group having a blast when all of a sudden I spilled oil all over the front straight.First thought was I blew my engine,so I pulled off the track.Checked the bike over and noticed the gasket to my oil filter had popped out.Of course everyone around me started saying that I had a double gasket or forgot to tighten filter. No double gasket and oil was changed 1k miles ago.Any thoughts?

There's another thread around here w/ the oil filter gasket ruptured & spewed oil everywhere. Interesting to hear of this twice in as few days. ???

ETA: Found that thread... https://cbrforum.com/forum/f4i-main-...me-oil-141321/

What brand of oil filter was it? Maybe there's a similarity between these two situations. I can't really think of any logical explanation that would cause this other than a defective oil filter since the double gasket & loose filter possibility is already ruled out.

Write it off to a bad filter. If it happens again, check to see if your oil pressure is too high.

How do I check oil pressure?I don't want it to happen again especially at the track. This time I got lucky that it happened going on the straight. If it happens on a high speed corner,I may not be here to tell you about it.

Cross reference your oil filter to make sure it
has the correct pressure rating for your bike.
Don't remember the website but you can Google
"motorcycle oil filter cross reference".
