Default Bike won't start.

Just bought a 98 from a friend of mine. I replaced the battery, checked the plugs, fuses, but the bike still won't start up. (Yes, the gas is on)It will turn over, but it won't catch. This is my first bike ever so i wasn't sure what exactly to look for. Any suggestions/advice as to what this might be or how to fix it/or replace anything? I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

The battery that came initwas old and completely dead when i bought it. The seller said it wouldn't hurt to replace it. So ibought a new battery and put it in this morning.Everything electrical seems to be in order (i.e. horn, lights, blinkers, etc). It has new plugs, so that shouldn't be it. It turns over perfectly, it just won't catch. You think it could have something to do with the starter or is there another component i don't know about? I appreciate the input. I'm itching to get this bike on the road. Thanks.

when you try and start it does it start to get really weak and the lights dim even though the battery is new? id also suggest going through and check your ground wires. did the seller mention any problems with the reg/rec?

Lights don't dim any. Haven't checked the grounds yet. The seller didn't mention any problems with anything in particular. Just said the battery should probably be replaced. (He did inform me that it sat up a while in the garage and that it didn't crank up the last time he tried.) I figured it was a some small something that's holding it up somewhere, just can't put my finger on it. Thanksagain for the input.
