RE: bike in the trash!
No I would not take to them with a hammer mate ?
When I say jack her up, I mean lift the front end. till the forks are easy to slide down ..
Have you got anywhere you can rope the front end up to, too life her ...?
any over hanging beams?
If the lower cowl is not fitted you can use a good jack ....but be sure to be careful not to damage anything doing it that way ..

RE: bike in the trash!
I suggest removal of the lower fairings, if not already done, get two jack stands and a good floorjack to lift your bike up by, support under the stator cover and starter side of the motor with the jackstands, and re-assemble your forks properly.
among other things, you also NEED to check your fork oil level now before you close those forks up. chances are you really changed it significantly by not knowingly pushing them up like that. To properly inspect the fork oil height, you need to have some manner of support beneath your bike, like a jack stand, remove the wheel, then the damper rod bolt at the bottom of each fork, remove the spring assembly, and compress the fork to its highest point to measure the fork oil.
THEN put everything back together. damned if I know how much oil to use.
