Frame: Repair or Trash

Frame: Repair or Trash
I recently laid my bike down for the first time @ about 80 MPH in a corner after hitting a raised curb from the side (I suck). The forks look good and don't seem bent, alothough I will probably have them laser tested soon. My question is about the frame. Everything seem to be fine except for the part that drops and wraps around the engine compartment (02 f4i). I am wondering if this is something taht can be fixed by a metal fab shop or if I should just grab one of ebay, although I'm not sure if I can really be guarenteed that anyhting I get off of there that is any better than what I already got... Any input?

RE: Frame: Repair or Trash
Wow laid it down huh? The first thing I would do is file a claim with my insurance and have them total the bike and get my money and buy a new one. If you don't have coverage, trying to fix a bent frame is tough, there is a lot of pressure and stress put on the frameof the bike. To try to repair a bent frame, it could be done, but I would rather not ride on a bent repaired frame. If you can find another frame and move your parts over that would be alot of work, but it would be better than riding on a bent frame. 80 mph, you were flying pretty fast. Were you injured at all?

Dude you ok?
You've found the frame crack on first inspection... if you're going to take the pains to replace the frame, I'd say inspect other parts for damage when you take it apart!
My question to Stephens - is your bike insured? I was quoted half the price of the bike (bluebook) per year in insurance... doesnt seem worth it?
