Default Bike running on stand question.

Ok, so I just recently picked up a 04' 1krr.

My rear wheel spins while the bike is running on the stand. Is this normal? It does not spin much, maybe 5mph or so.

My f4i would only spin if I gave is some gas while it was on the stand.

Do I have a clutch going out?

Nah your clutch is ok, the rear wheel spins on my bike when I have it running on the stand as well. The difference between your F4i and your 04 1kRR could just be that the rear wheel has newer bearings than the F4i which would cause it to spin easier!

Ok no it is not normal. Mine does not spin. It means you have too much clutch free-play.

No, it is normal. It is akin to a"viscous coupling". The disengaged plates are spinning with the engine, literally swirling the oil around, which will cause a transfer of energy to the shaft. If your rear wheel bearings are good, the rear wheel will spin. It only needs a little bit of friction or dragto overcome the oil spin, so sitting on the ground or slight finger pressure on the tire easily does it. If it takes more effort to stop it, there is a problem in the transmission.

Every bike I've ever owned with a chain drive does this.

Edit: This is with the bike in neutral. If it's in gear and the clutch pulled in and it cannot be easily stopped, that's the free play issue.

Tighten the free play and it wont spin.

Did the 04-05 line come with a hydraulic clutch?

My brothers brand new 07 Kawasaki 650 does this when it is on the center stand too.
It is a normal thing if you can stop it easily with one finger with hardly any pressure.
If it keeps wanting to spin while your finger is on it than you have problems.
If you stop it and the engine bogs you also have problems.
If you are on the side stand and the wheel is spinning while on the ground you have problems.
04 CBR1000rr has a hydraulic clutch.
