Default Leaving the bike running on the kick stand. Good or bad?

Well me and a couple guys at work were talking (co-worker has a sportster and checked his oil level while on the kickstand and added oil, yes stupid i know hahaha)

Well one of our tow truck drivers used to ride and said that its bad to leave the bike running, and to start it while the bike is on the kickstand. Now i know this makes sense since oil would shift to the kickstand side, but i figured newer bikes might have taken that into consideration.

Any insight would be appreciated, if this is true ill stop starting the bike that way so i won't mess anything up.

You will have no problems. There's enough oil to circulate at quite dramatic angles.

exactly...if it wasn't taken into consideration, you'd never be able to corner at an angle greater than when your stand is down...wouldn't make much sense.

Considering the lean angles your bike sees in corners, kickstand running won't hurt you.

Yea thats what i figured thanks for the input. My thoughts would be that theres baffles on there and maybe 2 oil pick ups one on each side haha

it's all in your manual. it even says in there to check the oil level let it run for a 1-3 minutes, turn off, then check oil level when the bike is straight, not leaned to one side.
