Default Bike Lock/Alarm

Hey guys!

So I've been looking around, and around on the forums, and it seems that some of you use Kryptonite or Xenon brands for locks on your bikes. I've been reading around on the internet lately and a lot of articles come up with the issue of motorcycle thefts becoming more common, so I want to take precaution by purchasing a lock or alarm for my bike, though I've been hearing that the Xenon brands are extremely sensitive. Yeah, I know that neither will completely guard my bike against theft, but any protection is better than none.

Whenever I drive around, I see some bikes with a stretch chord with something attached to the rotors, all the way up to the handlebars. Those don't seem safe since they're made of material that's easily cuttable.

So, what do you guys reccommend for a lock?

Thanks!!!

well the ones with the cable u see running down is actually a tether to remind you you have disc lock on. which are not easily cuttable. As for an alarm I spoke to my cousin today and somone tried to steal his bike and set his alarm off and left his bike in the middle of his parking lot so that seem to of saved his. If someone really wants it they are going to get it. Personally, i lock my steering when my bike is not in my garage and depending on the area i put my disc lock on as well.

Oh, I see. So it seems that the tether and the alarm is a good combination then? As for locking the steering, I always switch the engine cutoff, then i kick it to 2nd and then i turn the steering all the way and lock it. or atleast, that's what i remember being told in my MSF course..?
