Default Best way to remove decals?

Wanting to remove the F4 decal on both sides and the 600F4 decals on the tail. What is the best way to do this? thought about a heat gun but don't know if the plastics would really like that. Any ideas?

Saw on different threads here that most people are using a heat gun for removing the decal. But different ideas for the best way to remove any left over glue. I do not plan on repainting the bike so leaving the finish looking good is important. What do you use so that you do not mess up the finish?

A little bit of lighter fluid will help get some of that off.

I worked for a sign company for a while and we always used mineral spirits. It is basically the same thing a goo gone, but cheaper. I always wash the area with water after I am done, but I have never had a problem with fading color or anything like that oon my CBR 900rr or my '06 1000RR
