Default How do I remove a gas cap w/out a key

Just purchased a new tank for my F4i (current one was corroded/rusted and leaking). Managed to get it off, but, the new tank has a gas cap already on it. How can I remove this gas cap to replace it with my own? My key obviously doesn't work on it.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks. (Currently in the process of doing it)

maybe im not understanding your question but to swap gas caps, just get allen wrenches and unscrew the circle of bolt of the gas cap. then change them and bolt them back on. pretty straight forward.

I took off al lthe allen nuts, but the cap is still tight on. I also took the ones off of my tank, and that cap only comes off when I put my key in it.

I'm wondering if I should just use a flat head screw driver and hammer it out. I don't care if I mess it up, so long as I can put MY gas cap on it...

Any thoughts (anyone)?

ya. the rubber seal might have made a pretty tight suction from no use. i would give a hammer and flat head a try

Just for reference (should anyone search and have the same issue) - btw, correct me if I'm wrong.

If you for some reason need to take off a gas cap, and don't have the key for it, you have 2, maybe 3 option:

1) Keysmith
2) Honda Dealership
3) Bust it

my buddy actualy had the same problem last night (strange how things suddenly come up) prying it after removing the ring that bolts to the tank is easy as hell. it only too 2 minutes and you save yourself 20 bucks.
