So i had my old battery tested and it was indeed a bad battery. GOing to double check the charging system later today just to be safe.

Hopefully my light issue is just a bad connection somewhere, but i have a feeling thats not the case. Any other reason that the light could be acting up. Heres the thing too it makes the the loud buzz noise even if the bulb isnt connected and i hit the switch. But like I saiid sometimes it turns on fine. Maybe the capacitor in the ballast is screwed up.

If the ballast has a good ground and it's getting the proper voltage there's not really anything else I can think of to check other than the ballast/ignitor itself. Can you hear where the buzzing is coming from or feel a vibration from the ballast when it's buzzing?

You need the negative battery cable connected, you can't completely take a battery out of the bike. Regarless of the battery testing bad, it was hooked up and allowing the flow of voltage the bike is making to go so if the bike died while it was running your charging system isen't working properly. Theres no way around the fact.

Many people have said that a faulty battery can cause unusual things to happen to the bikes electrical system. I cant exactly remember if it just died while i was coming to a stop and the rpms were going back towards idle or maybe i was letting the clutch out to move foward a bit more and stalled it. im not sure. But i was able to push start it with the faulty battery so my charging system could be just fine.

I tried testing the charging system last night by following the guide here. It specifically says to do it with a fully charged battery which i did not so I will throw it on a tender and test it with a full charge later this weekend but here are the results anyway.

Battery w/ bike off: 11.89 Supposed to be probs around 12.7 - 13.2
Battery @ 2500 Rpm: 12.45 Supposed to be higher than 13.5
Battery @ 5000 Rpm ~12.6 Supposed to be lower than 14.8

looks like its at least trying to charge but id rather test again and try to get some more accurate results.
