Default Battery died twice

Hi,
My battery died last week so I bought a new Honda battery.

The dealer told me it was charging fine so I thought the issue was fixed.

Fast foward to this morning. I take a short 10 min drive and when I try to go back home the bike wouldn't start.

I jump started the bike and charged the battery at Autozone.

Warmed up
idle: 12.05v
5K RPM: 13.03v

Before the bike was fully warmed up I was getting 13.7v @ 5K but I guess this doesn't matter.

I checked my regulator wire harness and one of the yellow plug is burnt. Could this be the cause of my problems?

I tried to do the current leakage test but I cannot find the ground cable. I connected the multimeter to the negative cable and the green ground but the multimeter doesn't register anything.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

The answer to your question regarding the burnt wire is yes. This issue comes up all the time here, but it is your reg. They overheat, then break down. Initially its intermittant, but inevitable. Checking the voltage when the bike has not been running (as in having been riden) will usually give a normal(ish) reading. You need the wiring diagram for your bike? www.stephygee.com
The temp that these buggers get to could make toast, which is wot I think its done to your wiring.

Yep, change the reg out, and get a new wire harness. Also, check the stator resistance between the three yellow wires. A-B A-C B-C it should be no more than 1 OHM when the engine is cool.

I bet that the plug at your stator is damage too. I had the same issue and my reg/rec plug and stator plug were both melted. If you look on ebay, you should be able to find a harness that isn't damaged. If you can find the actual plugs... please let me know! I was able to find the stator plug through but not the reg/rec plug.

You should be able to just get the plugs from honda relativly cheap...not sure on a price, but probably pretty cheap. Eithat that or you can just cut it off and convert to a suzuki R/R, they handle better.
