You'll need to support the front of the bike in the air, need a press and a few other speciality tools. i just had mine replaced on my VTX for $200 bucks by a shop and it was money well spent.

Good luck and read the manual if you attempt it yourself...

This bike, my other bike gsxr, flew up in the air almost as high as the side wall in the rainy windy day on freeway off ramp. Managed not to crashed but I am sure it came down on the road pretty hard. That was back in Jan or Feb. Maybe this might have done it?

it's easy if you know what to do.

you need a die grinder to grind the steering stem lower race off.

keep it to help press on the new one.

use a hammer and an extension to pound out the frame neck races. keep them to get the new neck races started.

take your time trying to hammer at everything. it'll go, it's just a slow process. it took me a couple of hours for everything (no fairings or anything like that though).

if your father in law has a press though, you should be good to go
