Default Another dead battery!

So i went to get on my bike today after riding yesterday and the battery was dead. I am in the process of charging the battery again to get it running. I was looking at my bike when i wired in my LED's for my license place ( which i wired into the constant power on the blinkers. When i was looking yesterday over the wiring i noticed something and i am thinking i need to fix it but i figured that you guys could tell me what i was fixing first so that i knew in the future what it was. Also i was planning on soldering it and putting some liquid electrical tape on it to keep it from corroding again.

That's prolly the reason your battery isn't charging.

That block to the left of your finger is the regulator / rectifier. It's job is to convert the AC current generated by the stator (aka alternator) to DC current and to regulate the amount of voltage to... charge the battery.

Ok so i went to solder it and the harness is burnt where it mounts to the regulator. What wire is that? there may be a problem with power surging which i gotta wait to test with a multimeter ( the battery is still charging)

Highly probable your r/r is toast. There's a diag for the r/r and stator in the manual. Test both.

Right on Kuro , just went through the same scenario myself and went with a new
MotoBatt from Ebay and a new R/R from the UK (updated version from the UK)
most oem R/R's are weak on these bikes. Testing the stator is indeed a smart move.

Test, test, test!! Don't do like a ton of people do and just throw money at parts when you're not sure. Make sure you wire up the plug so it's function properly (heat shrink tubing, soldering, etc. -- do it the right way) and then go through the charging tests. There's several potential culprits but, while the R/R is a likely candidate, it'd be a shame to buy a new one when you have other issues.
