Alarm misfunctioning
I have a spyball alarm on my 01 929, it used to be loud as anything before, thats the problem though, used to be...
only thing i can think of that would have an affect on the alarm is my battery died, i've had to jump start and re-charge the battery a few times, its now been replaced and is fine. i didnt notice if it was making noise before that or not, all i know is, it used to be very very loud and very sensitive, now, i can move it or do what i want with the bike, all that happens is the blinkers blink for alittle while and stop. any auto electricians out their? any ideas as to why this would be? would it be because of the battery?

The battery dieing isn't going to cause the alarm to change the way it acts, as long as the new battery is fully charged. Go through and check the ground connection for the alarm, and siren if they grounded them seperately, this sometimes becomes corroded or loose. After that check to see if you are getting a full 12 volts to the alarm. Let me know what you find out and we'll go from there.
i checked all the wiring, checked the voltage with a multimetre, and everything appeared to be fine. the only thing i can think of is somehow the siren itself is damaged. which i dont see how it could possibly happen as the bike has never gone down and this problem occured literally overnight...
thanks for your ideas, what do you think could be the problem?

I have instealled CAR alarms for the past 11 years, and the circuitry should be the same... Whenever you have an alarm on a vehicle and jump start it, u run into the risk of a surge flowing through the wiring and causing it to burn out..If your alarm is soft sounding, and it flashes for a second and stops with or without dim lighting sounds like a burnt out circuit which means it should be replaced or serviced.
