97 cbr 600 wont start
so so i cleaned out my motor and carbs put everything back together. Now bike will turn over but wont start it gets really close like it putter almost starting. I have the choke on and im ingaging the throttle. Will it take a long time because there was no gas in the carbs after i was done.
theres not a whole lot of information to go on, but I'll try.
When you cleaned out the carbs, did you remove all of the jets?
Did you remove the pilot jet? If so, did you make sure it was set at the same position it was in before taking it out? It should be around 2- 2 1/2 turns out.
Did you resync the carbs afterwards?
I guess most of these questions are basically just how far did you tear the carbs apart? completely, or just enough to clean them.
Also, what was the reason for tearing them apart? was it not running properly?

If you had rust like stuff in there, even if its only a little bit, I would at the very least take your bowls back off, remove your main jets and clean them. My guess is they are probably plugged.
But, before that, I would check to make sure your getting enough spark. if it sputters a little, thats usually a sign that your plugs are fouled out.

If at a point that you can get to your carbs easy, spray a shot of starter fluid in each cylinder to see if it fires then. If it does, it doesnt completely rule out the sparkplugs as the starter fluid is extremely flamable, but it does help to point the problem back to the carbs.
Also, is there any gas in the carbs? some times when the carbs are flipped over, the floats can stick shut and wont allow any gas into the carbs. I think your bike has a drain on the bottom the bowls. I would pull the drain and see if gas comes out.
as for the new plugs, they can still foul. Especially if your engine was being cranked over with a weak or run down battery. If the engine wasnt spinning over fast like it should, they can foul.
