929 fuel sending unit help
Hello, I recently got a 929 from a guy who said that it only needed a stator, rectifier, and new battery..Well i replaced all of those and turned the key and now i dont hear the fuel pump priming and of course it wouldnt start..I took the fuel sending unit out, removed and tested the fuel pump and it worked, then i took my volt meter and tested the connector going into the unit which was about 8v then i tested the connector going to the fuel pump and it read 0v..I inspected all the connectors, fuses, and grounds and everything appears normal..its got to be the fuel sending unit right?
A few things to consider. The fuel pump only primes for a few seconds, so you will have to test the power leading to the fuel pump as soon as you turn on the key. The killswitch and bank angle sensor will cut the fuel pump, so make sure both of those are working properly. A common mistake is for someone to accidently disconnect the BAS, when this happens, the fuel pump won't prime.
Do you have any fairings removed? The BAS is located between the headlight and the gauge cluster. If any of those are removed, the bike won't start.
check all of your fuses to make sure you didn't accidentally cross a hot and ground while installing the battery. Also a common mistake that will blow a fuse.
Has the bike been in an accident or any modifications?

How are you checking the circuit? Do you have power at the fuse? Do you have spark? Kill switch working? BAS plugged in(as mentioned, except that its on the bracket with the hook that the seat slides into an tank bolts to)?
The sending unit it only for the low fuel light and has nothing to do with pump operation. Your problem is traceable, but we need you to be as accurate as you can in the checks that you do. Bad info in leads to bad info out...

So i put everything back together and the fuel pump is now priming but it still wont start..How do i check for spark and where are the plugs? I take it i have to drain the gas and take the tank off again..
The plugs are in the tubes with the coils through the center of the valve cover.
When you say "it wont start", is it that the motor is cranking and it wont start or it wont start because the starter wont crank the motor?

The tubes go down in the center of the valve cover. They are not under the air box, but removing it makes it easier to see them.
The manual says to lower the radiator to access them from the front. They have been done both ways...
