Default CBR 900 died

Hi,
I bought a 900 Fireblade not long ago.
I knew when I bought it that it wasn't charging right, after checking it out I realised it was over charging at about 18 volts,
I replaced the reg/rec with a genuine Honda updated one (fins on it).
I started and stopped it a few times, checking the voltage each time and all was well.
But after turning it off one time when I went to switch it back on the bike was dead.
I checked the fuses, they where ok so I replaced the ignition one anyway, just to see.
Still nothing.
I started wiggling wires just to see if something was loose, still nothing.
Then at one point I lightly touched the top of the fuse box and everything came back on.
The next time I used it, driving down the road and for a split second the bike died, the rev needle hit 0 and instantly the bike caught again and all was well.
My question is,before I start pulling it to bits.
Does anyone know if these bikes are known to have elec faults like this or dodgey fuse boxes or something?
Thanks,
Fangy.

sounds like a loose connection somewhere. i would check real carefully around the fusebox area/ things connected near the fusebox.

Yeah...fuse box diagram...check connection.

1. I would check the constant ground wire that connect to battery terminal.

2. Check the hot wire same time.

3. Look for any sign of mods? that is not normal. There maybe a short.

4. Look for rust, corrosion, burn, melt wire.....open end exposed wire.

worst case scenario, buy the entire hardness off ebay.

Thanks for getting back to me.
I'll start going over the bike tomorrow.
Just wanted to be sure there wasn't any known elec faults that could've saved me a bit of time.
Do you think the wiring that connects to the starter relay could leave the bike dead?
No idiot lights or anything.

The Fusebox is the problem, since you tapped on it and it worked, I would start there. Pull all the fuses check them for corrosion or rust anything, maybe replace them if they look old. check the wires going into the fusebox also, for burnt or loose connection.
