8k maintenance, how to
Allright guys, my 03 f4i is gonna hit 8k in the next few days. I have the manual and I know all of the maintenance that should be done at this mile marker... I can do some but I dont know how to do all of it. so any help on the following ie: videos, pics, links to anything helpful.
-Brake fluid- do I need to replace or just check?
-brake pad wear- how to check?
-Brake system
-Brake light switch
-headlight aim
-clutch
-steering head bearings
-suspension
I know this is a lot to ask but I know you guys on here are crazy good at mechanic work on our bikes and your all good at answering questions to help a newer rider! Thanks in advance

-Brake fluid- do I need to replace or just check?
The maint schedule calls for *Inspection* at 8K. Check both front & rear brake reservoirs. If you brake fluid is clear-ish & still retaining that orig color, then you're prob ok. However, if the fluid is dark & has any debris, flush & replace.
-brake pad wear- how to check?
You manual shows how to check for wear - section 3-21. If these are your orig pads, they may need replacement.
-Brake system
See above for recommendations. Replace fluids as necessary. Be sure to check your hoses, pads, rotors, as necessary.
-Brake light switch
Is there a prob? Does it work?
-headlight aim
Your manual shows how to adjust.
-clutch
Assuming you are keeping you oil changed & at proper levels, your clutch will prob be ok.
-steering head bearings
Inspect (as manual calls for). Unless your bike has been stunted or mistreated, the steering head bearings are most likely ok.
-suspension
What's the question? Check to see if your bike's suspension settings are orig settings. You can have your suspension set to your body type & riding style. I recommend having a suspension setup specialist do this for you.
Check your fork seals for leakage. If they are leaking, you'll need to replace your oil & dust seals. This isn't rocket-science if you have the proper tools.
