Default 87 CBR1000F

Replaced cam chain tensioner with updated part, but I still get tensioner or chain noise at idle, 900 to 1500 rpm, otherwise the bike runs great, how do I get rid of the noise? have I missed something? can the guides be adjusted?

Default RE: 87 CBR1000F

The tensioner is self adjusting. I have a 96 and was noticing increasing cam chain noise over the course of a couple of years. I had my trusted mechanic give me his opinion on it. He said my tensioner was fine and moving freely. He also commented that my cam chain noise was actually much better than most of the 1000F's he's worked on. In short, try and get used to it, it is inherent in an older motor and in my opinion would take a complete rebuild to get quiet as new.
