Default 1000rr kill/start on F4i

Does anyone know how to wire a 1000rr kill switch/ starter button to a 2002 F4i? The f4i has four wires going to the starter button and the 1000rr has only three? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

The point being?
Why don't you just get the right switch?

^ your a jackass!!! If your not gonna help leave you smart *** comments to yourself. If you knew about bikes in order to switch throttle housings you have to get a different kill switch and starter button for your info.

Now that was clearly uncalled for. I can see you're new here and may not realize that we are here to help. HenryM is one of the most helpful and knowledgable members here. I believe he was just asking a simple question which seemed reasonable to me. He certainly would not have been aware that you were switching the entire set up. A simple response would have sufficed.

What year 1000RR did the switch assembly come from ? The starter buttons normally control 2 different circuits, the starter naturally, and the headlight. It makes sense for 4 wires, however it could be done with 3 if they used a common ground. But to answer that we'd need to look at a wiring diagram for the correct year 1000RR. Do you have a copy one ?

And if your not going to provide enough information for others to properly help, keep your questions to yourself. there was no way for anyone to know you were switching out the housings. His suggestion was completely reasonable. your response was not.

Here is the link for the wire diagrams for 2002 F4i and 2005 1000rr.

I dont need the headlight wire which is Blue/white. If that helps at all? I was thinking if i connected the ground to blue/white on the 1000rr starter button if that would work? I didn't want to do that until i talked to someone about it. Thanks for your help guys. If you guys need any more info let me know. All I know is that the Black/red and Yellow/red goes to the same places on both bikes.

On the F4i, there is a connection between the Black/Red wire and the Blue/White wire while the Starter Switch is not pressed. There is no connection between the Black wire and the Yellow/Red wire as well.

When you press the Starter switch, the connection between the Black/Red wire and the Blue/White wire is opened and the Black wire is closed to the Yellow/Red wire. This is the Starter Relay circuit.

On the 1000RR, The Black/red wire is switched between the two other wires depending on whether the Starter Button is pressed or not. The Yellow/Red wire is for the Starter Relay. You only need to attach the Black/Red wire and the Yellow/Red wires if you're only interested in the Starter circuit.

So your saying i would be able to just use a switch with a momentary button and attach the black/red and yellow/red together so when i press it, it acts as the starter button? I plan on just connecting the kill switch wires together so its always on. This is on a stunt bike. That is why I am going through all of this hassle. Thanks for the info and help. Greatly appreciated!

Yes, if you attach a momentary switch to those wires, that will work.
