07 sc50 melting coolant bottle
While bench-testing (with the fairing off) my freshly aquired cbr1000r sc50 I noticed the coolant reservoir behind the headers starting to melt like cheese on radiator!
I was running it for a prolongued period with the idle up at about 2000RPM to check for coolant leaks. Indicated engine temp was approx. 100C, fan came on.
I've checked a couple of online parts fisch but haven't seen any sign of a heat shield being used to protect the bottle from radiated heat from the headers. Seems odd.
Any comments would be appreciated,
Thanks,
Mike

Don’t know if this help with your specific case or not but a best practice is when you are running your bike for prolonged period of time while it’s stationary out a box fan or the like in front of the bike to move air across everything
Thanks Hamlin6.That makes sense. I'll be doing that in future for sure.
Also, I have some heat shield material here, so today I'll make a small shield for added protection.
Cheers,
Mike
