Smile 03 CBR 600RR problems, HELP!

So I just recently bought this bike about a week ago from this guy who hardly rode it, the bike has 3k miles on it and is basically brand new. Scratches and scuffs around it (probably layed it down) but everything was fine. I was riding it for a while and all seemed fine, but 2 days ago I went to go for a morning ride and it wouldnt start, the battery had died, so i had to replace the battery. Than I started it and the oil pressure lamp and malfunction light went off solid red. So I found out he hasnt had an oil change on it, ever. So I changed the oil filter with a Purelator Classic L14610 which fit and was reccomended by my buddy who rides a bike. I took all the oil out before (obviously) and it was completely black. so I replaced all that and the low oil pressure light still is on with the malfunction light. I started it once and it all went off fine, I went riding and I went from 1st gear into 2nd and it made a loud pop noise like a screw flew off or broke, and it turned off with the oil light and everything on again. I checked it and all the screws were fine, no leaks, no nothing but it still wouldnt start. I really dont want to take it in because the only place here that works on bikes is incredibly expensive, any ideas on this?

For a bike with supposedly only 3k on it, it doesn't sound good. Are you confident about the mileage? When you try to start the bike is the engine turning over very fast or only just spinning it over? If it is a bit slow, it may be that the battery isn't getting a good enough charge once it is running. Try charging the new battery you put on the bike overnight on a slow charge and put it back on the bike and see if it makes a difference. If the bike starts after charging the battery, put a mulitmeter set to DC volts across the battery terminals and rev the engine. Watch the meter to see if the voltage rises. You should see a rise to around 13.5-14.0 volts. If not then either the alternator is faulty or the voltage rectifier isn't doing it's job. Get yourself a Haynes manual and use the fault finding section to give you some help. Hope you manage to sort it. Could be many problems as you will appreciate and hard to assess what is wrong without seeing/hearing your bike.

Here's a step by by step method I use
1 check spark - get a spare plug pull one wire at a Time ground it to the motor turn the motor over and see if it sparks do this for all plugs
2 check fuel - filter , peacock valve and pressure
3 go through the bike get some oil conditioner run (after bike runs) then change oil again. Pull carbs and clean all jets. Replace air cleaner.
When ever I buy a car bike.. I always service before riding driving.
Make sure your run switch is on I have been riding all my life and still forget the thing. I Get all upset can't figure out what's wrong throw wrenches.... I even torn one of my bikes totally apart only to look up and see the engine kill switch off. Talk about about felling stupid

Hey guys so i took it in and the problem turned out to be a fuel pump problem, try were clogged along with my injectors and my plugs were fouled, the bike is running beautifully now. They said i might need new tires though, they are hard but have full tread.
