Default 02 f4i no power to bike

So I went to get my bike ready for the weekend and it had no power when I turned the key. Did some research and decided to replace the starter relay. Installed the relay and the power to the bike was restored. I started the bike and it ran for about 10 seconds before stalling. Tried to restart and had no power again as if the new relay had instantly burnt out. I’m thinking I’m shorting to ground somewhere and plan on running through the harness today. Any suggestions as to what else the problem may be?

@KingCarti Hi and welcome to the forum. Can you provide a little more specific information on the symptoms you see and hear, as well as what you don't see and hear? The Starter Relay does have a 30A fuse on it, but you can replace the fuse easily enough without having to replace the relay as well. Popping that fuse requires quite a bit of current draw. The Regulator/Rectifier as well as the Stator come to mind. I would start by examining those first.

Idodirt thanks for your time. My fuses are all good including the 30. What should I look for with the rectifier? How do I test it. And I have noticed in the past it gets really hot. Is this normal?

You need the Honda shop manual. It is going to show you how to test those items for proper operation. Stephy Gee, a CA rider used to host copies of many of the CBR manuals. Google for a PDF copy and I'm sure you'll find one to download. Start with that.

So if all your fuses are good, then you should see some indication that you've turned on the ignition key?
