Default 01 F4I wont stay running unless FI light is on?

Okay so I went and bought a used 2001 F4i with a FI problem here is what’s going on with the bike. In the morning when I go to start her up she might start on the first try if not by the third try no problem but I have to let her idle till she warms up and then the FI light comes on. The bike seems to run fine with the FI light on but say she is warmed up from riding once I stop for gas or whatever, come time to start her up again she wont say on unless I hold the throttle open above 3K then the FI light comes on and she is good. I know its screwed up but that’s the way this bike is running but one last think to add when I go to start the bike after she has been running while I hold the throttle open the RPM's are going up and down. I have to run the bike just over 3k so the FI light comes on then the bike will not die if I take my hand off the throttle weird I know but if you have any good helpful information to share please pass it along to me. Thank you for your time. Jorge Home2Perez@aol.com

On bikes with FI there is a way to retrieve the error code. You need to get a service manual, get the code and start from there. FI light can mean almost anything so ya really got to start with what the bike thinks is wrong. CLICK HERE to see a helpful post on the subject.
