Default 01 CBR F4i Project Bike tips

Hi I'm new to the forum and I decided to join because I'm trying to costumize my bike, which is a 2001 Honda CBR F4i. Some background info: I bought the bike from my girlfriends brother in law; It is the red and white F4i with only 8k miles and looks brand new; It is basically stock aside from the Yoshi pipes. I believe I got it for a good deal due to the fact that I only paid 2k for the bike. It is my first bike and all and I want to personalize it instead of just upgrading.

What I want to do: I want to keep the stock fairings since it's in perfect condition, but I want to black it out so any tips on great stores or sellers on ebay for fairings would be appreciated. I want to also change the tail and have an integrated light so any preferences would also be appreciated. I want to flush the front blinkers out to make it more streamlined and I wanted to know if it was possible to change out the headlights so that both lights are on instead of just the one and when I turn on the highbeams it'll just get brighter. Also I want to make it HID lights instead of the standard. Any other suggestion would also be great and I appreciate all the help. I've come to love this bike and hope to ride it for more years to come. Thanks for the support.

This is the bike as it is now:

FIRST OFF!!! SHAME ON YOU...the red and white is too great of scheme to change! Its def my favorite f4i combo.

What I want to do: I want to keep the stock fairings since it's in perfect condition, but I want to black it out so any tips on great stores or sellers on ebay for fairings would be appreciated.

You said two different things said here. Do you want new black fairings or do you want to paint/vinyl the current ones?

I want to also change the tail and have an integrated light so any preferences would also be appreciated.

There are a lot of options here, homemade, hotbodies, pimpbikes, random ebay...Cant really go wrong from stock. It's all preference and look and safety, and ease of installation

I want to flush the front blinkers out to make it more streamlined

Good idea the stock signals look bulky, try hotbodies or ebay ones that you personally life the most a lot of people on here have hotbodies flushmounts.

and I wanted to know if it was possible to change out the headlights so that both lights are on instead of just the one and when I turn on the highbeams it'll just get brighter. Also I want to make it HID lights instead of the standard.

HID kits you can do this, having 2 high beams and 2 lows may require some more involved wiring but i am sure its doable, but you may need to adjust the highbeam reflector so you dont blind everyone on the road.

For other sugguestions, if you want to truly be individual maybe paint your wheels, frame, swingarm...I think that white frame, white swingarm white wheels (however hard to keep clean) would be awesome

Lol I know sorry, but due to the fact that red is not a welcome color in my neighborhood I have to make a necessary color change.

To clarify, sorry if it was confusing, I want to store the original fairings since it's still new so if I ever want to use it or sell it, I can. And I want to buy brand new black fairings that I might paint on if given enough funds. Any vendors or brand of fairings that is reliable and communicates well?

I see, I think what I really want to do is get rid of the bulky rear blinkers and to either get the all in one break, blinker light or get a different tail that already has those included. I want to know if there are any products that stand out from the rest.

Is hotbodies a vendor or a brand? I'm leaning towards the smoke flush lights, don't exactly know what brand it was I saw on ebay, but if there are any preferred brands I would like to know what they are. I want it to also be running lights as well as blinkers.

So I should get an HID kit that is compatible with the bike and most likely need to replace the reflectors?

It's not so much that I want to be an individual as much as I want to have a bike that impresses me. I'm not a real flashy person and I don't really do things to receive compliments. I just really wanted to do something to the bike that appeals to me.

I'm really picturing a streamlined bike that is black that looks great without being too flashy. I don't mind the stock tail trunk scheme, but my girl's brother-in-law messed up trying to trim the fender. It is a horrendous cut and is an eye sore. Also the rear blinkers, to me, ruins the aerodynamics of the whole bike. Thanks for the reply it has really helped =)

In regards to the HID. I would install the Bi-xenon projectors. They have come down in price quite a bit and IMHO, is the only way HID conversions should be done. If HID's are installed in reflectors designed for halogen bulbs, the light just goes everywhere and you end up blinding oncomming traffic, no matter how low you point them.

With the projectors, they have a cut off line that prevents oncomming traffic from being blinded. Basically, there is a shield in the way of the beam that produces the cutoff for the low beams, then the shield moves out of the way for the high beams. You end up with true dual low beams and high beams.

Check out the "How To" section, there are few good write ups in there. They make projector kits that will slide right into your existing reflector. I believe you will want the H7 kit.

Oh, and stick with the 4300k kits. Those are brightest and whitest light. The higher the number, the less light output they produce. Kind of defeats the purpose of HID.

hey if ur gonna black it out i'll trade you the tank, side fairings, and lower fairings for my tank, side fairings, and lower fairing. they are sanded and ready to be painted. It would save you the money of buying brand new fairings.

To justasquid: Thanks for the HID light info man. I looked at it and it would be the most likely candidate I will put on the bike, after I make sure it's legal here. Also a lot of the work I'm gonna do on it won't be installed by me but by an actual mechanic. I don't want to ruin the bike, I would disgrace myself haha.

To dmcb2120: Thanks for the sites brah really helped. Especially the fairings, the cheapest I've found in my search were around 400-500 dollars a set. Those tail lights look okay to, but I think I'll most likely have to get the tail with lights installed already. Just gotta find one with a small trunk compartment because I store the tool kit and the manual in there. As for the front blinkers have you used any of those, if you don't mind me asking, well for that matter have you personally tried any of these products? Just curious.

To canhead64: Thanks for the offer brah, but I'm actually trying to keep the original fairings. And if it wasn't for the fact that I could get jumped at a light for rocking red I would use them. Thanks for the offer again and sorry for not being able to trade.

Thanks for all the input more help is appreciated because I haven't solidified the plan so it's still in progress. Once the bike is finished I'll honor all the people who helped on the bike =)

So you can't ride a red bike in your area? Does that mean that nobody drives a red car either? that sucks.. I agree that the white/red combo is one of the nicest F4i schemes out there...

No there are red cars, in passing. But I live here. And I don't claim any colors. I'm not trying to get wrapped up in that drama. Yes it is one of the nicer ones and someone told me that it's Honda's colors. But I'm not going to get myself dragged into something I'm not involved with. Sometimes claiming ignorance brings trouble. If you know what I mean.
