So I'm installing a new fuel filter. I just pulled my pump and found this ball of what looks like aluminum brilo!!! There's no way this is supposed to be in here. SOMEBODY please give me an explanation!! Thank you!

Hi and welcome to the forum. I had a similar reaction the firs time I saw that too. It is supposed to be there. The fuel return line connects under that area and flows into that "brillo". It helps disperse the high pressure/velocity fuel returning from the fuel rail. Keeps the fuel from squirting all over, particularly when the tank is low.

Oh OK. So I'm guessing they don't all have it since the new fuel pump I bought doesn't come with that? Is it a necessity?

The Honda engineers thought so. If you bought Honda OEM fuel pump, it would have it.
