ALL sport bike models have had cam chain tensioner issues. Pretty much by 02-03 most manufacturers had it licked ... before that a $30 manual tensioner and 2hrs on a Saturday was an easy fix. The only issue I know that has haunted Honda forever is cheap a$$ stator / regulator/rectifier. I had a 1980 CX500Custom that had those issues and my 04 also had those issues. Not a $30 fix either. More like $300 ... but runs saaaaweet now
