What would you have done?
Last week I was cruising the 4 lane near my house. There is a section with some really sweet, sweeping, banked curves with lots of runoff. Needless to say, I usually give in to the temptation to "ride at my own pace" through them! This time, as I was approaching, I pulled out to pass a car and saw an unmarked Dodge Charger coming from the other direction. I've encountered this Charger (as well as the officer most likely to be behind the wheel) before and I do not want to ever reintroduce myself to him. I glanced down and noted that I was traveling 72 in a 55 and knew I had likely popped his radar/lidar/sonar scanner. I glanced in the mirror right after we passed each other and, sure enough, saw him pulling into the crossover. The way the road runs, I would be out of his sight for 7-8 seconds while he got turned around and back up to speed. I knew if he was coming after me, I'd have a ticket. I figured if I pinned the throttle and got to a side road within the next mile, he'd come through the curves and I'd be completely out of sight. If, by some chance, he guessed the correct turn I had taken, I would be back down to a sane speed and would just accept my fate. So, I ran through the curves, made my turn, hung out in the back lot of a Mormon tabernacle, and said a few prayers...
After 10 minutes or so, I'd calmed down enough to do some slow speed drills in the empty parking lot and then headed home.
I know it was taking a serious chance, and every other time I've pulled over (and gotten a ticket), but I felt that the environment (almost no traffic, very limited straight line visibility) provided me an opportunity, so I took it. Fortunately, it worked out...

That was only the second time I've ever run. The first was a similar situation, i.e. he was coming the other direction, but that was 26 years ago in my sweet Eagle Talon... DL. I got away that time, too, but only because he had to go another 1/4 mile to hit the nearest crossover.
Hmmm, so according to my stats, I'm 100% on getting away when I try and 100% ticketed when I pull over (7 times at last count... lol). Maybe I've been going about this all wrong!

I went on a group ride one night. Got on the freeway during rush hour. We filtered threw traffic at a quick pace and went to the meetup at a hooters. 15min later a guy showed up and told us how cool we were all running from that cop he was behind when we got on the freeway. All 10 of us were like "huh?" Apparently the cop turned on his lights to pull us over but couldn't get threw traffic quick enough to catch up and gave up after a mile or two haha. None of us had any idea it happened. That's my only "running" story. Otherwise yeah lots of evades. If you pass a cop on the side of the freeway radaring and your doing 100mph you just crank it up to 150 so he can't ever catch up. Get off after a mile or two and disappear. Easy peasy.
