Thats pretty cheap. I wonder what kind of paint they are going to use on it. I feel that there would be almost $350 in materials to do a complete paint job if they are using good paint. If its someone you know and trust then I say go for it. If its a stranger then I would warn that you get what you pay for. Just my opinion.

it really depends on the color and quality of paint and if he's your buddy. 500 - 3000 depending on paint and quality of work and the prep time. If you spend only 500 then it will look like a 500 paint job. Paint is not the thing you wanna skimp on if you want it like a mirror. Spend 500 and you'll proly have a 5-10 foot paint job

so here is a rough estimate red is like 147 qt but jet black is like $70 qt. but a qt. is way over enough but a pint is pushing it for enough to cover.

Just calling the paint store and getting a price on a quart of paint is NOT an accurate extimate of what its going to cost to paint a project. Once you have bought the paint you have to mix it with something (reducer), clear coat, hardener, solvents to clean your equipment like paint gun, sanding materials, masking materials, any body repair materials needed (ready to shoot parts almost always need some attention still) and finally there is waste disposal. Each of these little things cost and add up on the cost of a paint job. Once you have all of these materials there is the time involved in doing the work.

Most people frown at the price of paint work these days because Maaco has lots of us fooled into believing that $299 can get you a good paint job on a car. Well, I managed a Maaco for a short time and would never let them paint anything I owned.
