Well about my fall, here is what happened.

I was riding down the street going like 25-26 MPH and some woman was coming onto the street from a parking spot and she cut me off. From the parking spot where she was coming from, there was two options for her: one to go straight and one to make a left turn onto a small side street next to where here car was.

While I was riding, I saw her come out and didn't know what she was going to do. I didn't know if she was going to go straight or make the left turn, so I started braking. I was also preparing for the worse (running into the back of her car) so I started to go around her because she was also going really slowly like she didn't know where she was going or what she was going to do. As I was braking (and I didn't slam on the brakes, I was just trying to slow down some so she can get to full speed and so I wouldn't run into the back of her) my front wheel slipped and I fell to the left, the bike slid about 15 feet, and I slid about 10 feet.

The roads were still wet from the morning condensation, but it was like 55F outside. The lady stopped, got out of the car and asked if I was okay. She said that she didn't see me. I was blessed that there was no oncoming traffic or traffic behind me because I would have been ran over.

I should have gotten her insurance information, but I didn't think I needed it at the time because we didnt' collide. BIG MISTAKE!

However, I am more thankful of not being hurt or losing my life rather than worrying about fixing my bike and spending a lot of money that I don't have on the bike to fix it. I just look at it as another lesson learned and think positive about everything that I can.

To top it all off, I was only about 4 blocks from my house and I didn't get to experience a great ride that day because I hardly got anywhere. Oh, well!

thats sucks, that sounds like my wreck( except i did get her insurance so they paid for my new bike ). and playboi i was making fun of you because he would have had to wrecked while riding to do that much damage, therefore making your first question dumb and the fact that you don't get that makes your second one dumber

Well, I didn't know that about getting the insurance until my brother told me that it doesn't matter if there is a collision or not, it matters if the other person just caused the wreck. I was thinking like how it is with cars, that insurance won't do anything unless there is a collision. I know now and it is too late.

I think my total is up to like 1200.00 with what I just found out about my rim and my fork seals. I don't think that is too bad, considering the damage.

If there will be a next time (knock on wood that there won't), I will know to get the insurance information whether or not a collision happens. Like I said, I just have to think positive about it and move on with my losses. I am just looking ahead to this riding season and hopefully it will be a safe one for me (and the rest of you!).

I live and I learn!

yeah, true. i didn't think it would either. luckily a cop got called to the scene so he took the info and gave it to me. my total between damage, hospital bills(broke my wrist), and missed work was almost $7,000 tho so i would have been royally screwed had it not. anywho, enjoy it and be safe

Yeah that is costly. I wasn't going fast enough to have any major bodily injuries other than scraping my knee. I had all my gear on and my body was exhausted from the impact of the fall for like 4 days, but that was it.
