tuning?
No is the easy answer. The K&N doesn't do much on a ram air inducted bike but save you money in filters. You will also notice most slipons have got dyno charts posted without the power commander. Truth is they don't make a big enough difference to talk about. They're more about looks and sound than function. The main restrictions on a 4 into 1 exhaust come in the headers not the muffler. For a full system I would highly recommend re-mapping your fuel injection lest you lean out too much.
As a mechanic I would recommend tuning your bike. My power commander with a custom map was my best investment to date. I was able to only pull a 3 HP increase in the top end, however I got 8 HP more in my midrange. It doesn't sound like a lot however my bike also became much smoother and not quite as prone to the fuel injection twitchyness

I didnt do the mods to make it faster Igot the pipe so every ******* in a car could hear me to try to avoid getting run over. The k&n was to save money, but now after the install of the filter and new plugs the FI light is on.
You may have a leak in your exhaust at the midpipe (very common), or there may be aleak around the O2 sensor. Did you replace the seal when you installed it? The filter shouldn't cause that. An easy test is to install your old filter and see if the light goes away.
