Default trouble with the F4

Working on the 99 f4 and still having problems. Last night found out the battery was shot so bought a new one. Came home anxious to start the bike, put the key on hit start and finally fired right up.. for about 30 seconds of me messing with the throttle, i thought it would clean out and start to hold an idle and run smoother, but no luck the bike just died again and wouldnt restart. I know the fuel pump is working i can hear it prime and the carb bowls are full of fuel. The person i bought it from said 2-3 months ago it would start up and hold idle all the way to max rpm. I am completely lost with few tools to do any work. I am changing out plugs tonight and putting a new fuel filter on but i feel like its not going to be the problem. what else could i look for, rebuilding carbs, fuel relay..? street bikes arent my cup of tea i can rebuild a kx125 with my eyes closed but 4 cyclinder four strokes a little overwhelming right now.

Default Test the switch.

For a second there I thought I was on a different forum... classic carb signs. Did you try some seafoam?

ripped apart the entire bike last night including top end cleaned everything, took carbs completely apart and cleaned them, installed new plugs and fuel filter and seals, put everything back together taking the time to do it all right, hit the start button and before i could even touch it she fired right up held a good idle and revved out clean, bike runs good but now at about 5000 RPM while riding it, it feels like its starving fuel but up to that point it runs great..fuel pump not pushing out enough fuel? bad relay? how do i test them and also the shifter is messed up only will catch to down shift when it wants to i d k what would cause that, a worn gear or just a worn key or something else?

Probably more fitting and get more help if you put this in the right forum... We don't have carbs.
