Your idle speed has nothing to do with shifting at high rpms.... Or shifting in general for that matter. Make sure your clutch is adjusted properly and try again. If it still does it, then it'll either be a shift fork, or shift drum issue. Replacement of those is annoying, but not too difficult to do, requires you to drop the oil pan and remove your clutch.

Hello, the OP is about shifting at high rpm, he also stated he's not clutch less shifting from first to second...so I'm kind of lost as to what you're on about.

My f4i tends to grind from first to second at high rpm I don't think it's the clutch and lower rpms are smooth as butter. I'm running rotella t6 10w 40 full synthetic and the bike only has 5000 miles. It doesn't do it every time just when I'm really on it. When I preload the shifter it reduces the grinding but doesn't get rid of it. Any ideas on what I can do.
