so much hostility here LOL.....i use a jack and jack stands but what do i know....Im sure most would agree that a pit bull stands would be the best thing to use right? but we use what we have.... i could have the wheel off with a jack and socket set by the time you got the cherry picker over to the bike so bringn that out wouldnt be the fastest way

Just take the stupid fairings off. It's so simple. Then you can use jackstands to support the engine to frame mounting bolts from the bottom. My 2001 track bike has been supported like that for weeks now, and it worked great on my 2005 street bike as well. Use some straps to hold the bike tight to the stands as well for additional peace of mind if it's going to be more than a couple days.

The correct way is to use a stand. It will have other uses trust me. Every bike owner needs to own a set of stands.

I know the racket strap method works and is the only method for some tasks, but do you jack your car up from a tree by racket straps to change the oil, brakes etc?

If its worth doing, its worth doing right, not shade tree or halfassed.

Umm... kinda hate to point this out but... Isn't that a stand on your rear tire?

a stand seems to have some utility seeing as you have one

Read much? He's talking about changing the tires, which requires removing the front wheel. Any dolt can find a way to support the swingarm. I was just recommending how to support the front specifically.

figured i'd stir this pot back up by posting pics of how my bike is currently sitting while my new tire gets put on.

And just to show that it can be done without a stand!
