Default Temperature Problem

Hey EveryBody..
I have a 2002 Cbr 600 F4i... It has been giving me weird temperature problems recentely.. Ever time its gets to about normal running temperature (177 or so) it keeps on rising until about 190 then slowly drops down until about 184 or sometimes 182 and stays there.. but if i turn on my highbeams the temperature jumps up about 4-6 degrees Everysingle time.. And when i shut the highbeams off then it goes back to 184 or so.. It also goes up a small about when i work the brake so to me it seems like the more power that is being used the more the tempeture goes up.. When im in a area where my temerature goes up slowly like up my dirt road the temperature also rises faster and when it dispalys the right temperature for the fan to come on it never comes on until it get even hotter.. so i think its just displaying a higher tempeature to my display..

Any Thoughts!!??!

Sounds normal to me...

Fans shouldn't kick on till it hits 220 or so...

Does the display INSTANTLY flip to 4 degrees hotter with the high beams?- Then I'd suspect a ground or wiring problem, otherwise if it is just creeping up/down that is normal as you ride.

I agree with mycvil. Sounds like, you may have a ground fault. How many miles are on the bike. After you eliminate the ground fault you can try flushing the cooling system. I changed my coolant to engine ice and havent had any temp problems since. Before I switched I was running stock coolant and in traffic the bike was burning up. Since I have switched the temp has dropped in traffic by about 20 degrees.

The tempeture instantaly goes up when i flip the switch on for my high beams.. and it has 27 thousand miles on it.. Im not exactly sure but the fan usted to kick on at 229 but now it easily goes about that without coming on until around 239.. not sure if its just giving me the wrong tempeture to my dash or not... gonna have to go through all the wiring i guess!!

Thanks guys!!

Check the connectors at the gauges. - I looked at the wiring diagram and didn't see anything in common between the lights and the engine sensors. - The only point where they meet would be at the gauges.

Try gently tapping on the gauge pod when the high beam is on and see if the temp moves at all.

FYI - The ECT (Engine Coolant Temp)sensor does not trigger the fans - there is a separate fan switch directly on the radiator that triggers it.
