Default swap question.... 1000F4i?

so, i came across a motor out of a wrecked 1000rr for 400 with wiring harness and throttle boddies. myabe i'm retarded but i was wondering about swapping it into my F4i. I know the liter bikes are for posers thing may come up but i don't care about that. does anyone know how different the mounts are or if it can be done????

The replies you are going to get will be along the lines of "with enough money and time, anything is possible". Someone may chime in with some specific technical knowledge. Off the top of my headI have this to say; 1. The motor may not fit under the tank or between the frame. 2. The frame/swingarm/suspension may not be able to hold up to the added torque, power and weight(?). 3. I dont know what kind of issues you may run into as far as electrical goes. 4.The alignment of the front sprocket and rear sprocket will more than likely change, requiring shims or spacers or something of the sort.

I know ive seen a page about putting a GSXR 1k into a 600 frame/bike withminor modification to the engine mounts (minor if you know how to weld and are confident enough). I believe the guy who did it said hes done 2 or 3 and can accomplish it in a matter of hours.

And as far as the liter bikes are for posers goes, some people may say that. I would say those people are ignorant. Yes, many people jump on bikes that are too big and fast for them, but that doesnt mean you are a squid or poser for having the control and ability to handle a 1k.

i know it'd be awesome if i had em both sitting side by side and could do some eye balling and measuring. I searched and didn't come up with anything about it (didn't spend hours searching and only looked here)
mc you have some good points. i know that if i had the time and money i could put an LS1 in my F4i lol.
I just looked around after getting beat by my friends 636 and figured that if it could be done without spending 50k on doin it that it would be worth it since the motor is only $400 and i couldn't even get a new power commander and get it dyno tuned for 400.

There are a few things to take into consideration.

do you have the necessary skills/ equiptment/ knowlege to fabricate new mounts.

if not, how much money will it be to have it get done.

Take the value of the bike, motor and labor for modifications and you will probably have enough money to buy a new bike.

If ya want to go tour ya dont get a 636 and throw a nice cooshy seat, bar risers, windscreen, different rearsets and luggage when ya can buy a bike more suitably built. same goes with a bike that is faster or handles better. more often than not it is cheaper, easier and less headaches to buy a purpose built machine.
