Check your idle speed. Also start looking for drains. A bad battery will also cause other issues, like killing the rectifier. Most batteries are never properly prepped before installation anyways, which doesn't help much.

I do know my bike idles kind of low. like 900-1100, off the top of my head.
I can't think of anything that would drain, but that doesn't mean there isn't one.
I'm really perplexed due to the way it wouldn't start after the first half hour ride but it did start when I got it home and it started again when I took it out the next day. Of course, it couldn't be fixed, and it didn't start later that day or this morning.

Is the battery I just installed bad?

I've adjusted my idle up to the correct value.
I guess I'm going to push start for a few rides and then see if the battery is holding or getting a charge.

Another thing I noticed is that the battery holds enough of a charge after each push start to keep the clock going. Its not much, but that at least tells me there's electricity there.

I hope this does the trick...

did it work? and does anyone know how much it will roughly cost to replace a regulator?

not really. Check around eBay. They can be 3 digits from what I hear.

A reg/rec is about $150 new from a dealership, $100 new from various online stores, and about $70 used on ebay.

accuman, hows your bike now? i just replaced my regulator rectifyer and still have the same problem...i think im just going to send it to the dealership. i replaced the battery and regulator, is there anything else to do? someone mentioned the stator but i have no idea how to fix that/replace it. DAMNIT [:@]plz help
