Sound while engine is cold

Plastic sound? I must have missed that part. Well if it is more of a metallic sound, then my previous statement stands... But a "plastic" sound? Hmmm... I would say check the fairings as DBEAU stated.

No, definitely not my fairings, since it goes away after the engine is warm, and doesnt happen at a specific rpm.

Probably as you said, time to get the valves adjusted.
How much do the dealers charge, no way I am touching the engine and risking screwing it up.

I have no idea what dealers charge as I always do my bikes myself

Sorry to resurrect this old thread, but looks like I found the problem.

It was the oil!
I swear the oil was fresh and the level was fine when I originally posted about the problem.

I checked the level last weekened and it looked a little low, so I filled up with Mobil1 Racing 4T Synthetic and the noise is gone, and my engine doesnt heat up at traffic lights like it used to before.
Feels a lot smoother and quieter now.
