Default Engine racing when cold

Recently, when starting my bike (2000 rry) from cold, if the automatic choke kicks in it goes to 2000rpm as normal, but if I blip the throttle the bike sticks at about 5000 revs. It stays bang on at that, unless I kill the engine and restart. It started doing it a week or so ago, and has now become a more regular problem.
Once its warm, its fine. Could this be a problem with the choke, or the FI or ECU? Its happened while the bikes been moving once too - and obviously I'd rather rectify it!
Anyone had this problem or got any ideas?
