Default slip-on/power commander?

Ok, I keep hearing two sides to the story. Adding a slip on you would need a power commander? Adding a slip on doesnt do anything but change the noise and you dont need a power commander? Im confused, I would think that changing the muffler would change how the bike was tuned from factory?

Some even believe the the bike is set too lean from the factory and that a power commander is helpful even with a stock bike. My only concern with a PC is that it is another set of electronics to fail or have problems with.

There is no need to add a Power Commander when you add a slip on, unless you want to. They will run just fine w/o both.

pipe w/o pc = just fine
pipe + pc = better
pipe + pc + custom dyno tune = great

True enough.......I put it onmy bike even when it was stock and liked the improved throttle response very much. I say get it, but.....if you are tight on money then dont lose any sleep over it.

If you're looking for better sound get a pipe. If your looking for slightly better throttle response get a PC.

Neither are required and neither require the other. Any power gain is minimal if at all.

Before you ask advice ask the guy if he's actually done it. Lot's of "I heard" types on here.

I've done both and regret spending the money. It's mostly hype.

The guy i bought my bikefrom left the micron can and power commander on but did nt install the map for this combinationmainly because it was nt on the pc, cd rom i obtained the map code from pc website and uploaded to the pc on the bike, the results were worth the effort 0-1000 rpm is a little lumpy but mid range and top are awsome
