Default Sixth Gear Modification ??

I've been struggling with the idea of -1+2 sprocket change for almost a year now but I do alot of highway riding and I don't want to give up my cruising MPG. Has anyone heard of or had experience with changing the sprockets and the Sixth gear in the tranny to counter the effects on top end? I've tried but I can't seem to find anyone who sells the gears for the tranny itself. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

so you want to change the sprockets.. and then change the tranny for higher top gears?

wouldnt that defeat the reason for the sprockets in the first place?

-1 +2 isint that HUGE of a change. you will notice the speed for sure but your top end should only suffer by about 1.5k rpm's

My goal was to do the conversion for the lower gearing in 1 thru 5 but keep the same or close to the same 6th gear ratio.

Its not really that bad. Instead of 50mpg, your gonna get 49 (example) Youll spend more money trying to change 6th gear than a new chain/sprockets.

Yeah, MPG will only be slightly affected. I wouldn't worry about 6th gear.

The reason you can't find a set of 6th gear gears is because they don't exist outside a Honda dealership.
