Hey guys Im new to street bikes and just bought my first one few weeks ago. Its a 1994 cbr600 f2. Slowly making it into a "fighter" But ive kinda hit a wall with the tranny. Everywhere Ive look says this bike has 6 gears. I can shift through the first 5 smooth as can be the I try to go up to sixth and nothing..feels like there isnt another gear? is it possible that gear is shredded? or someone before me modded the tranny?

 

Are you sure you're getting into 1st gear? Most bikes are 1-down, then the rest up, meaning from neutral you press down on the shifter to get into first, then you shift up into 2nd thru 6th.

 

yes i am shifting down into first gear. ive ridden it some more today and tried and tried again..nothing. So I think Ill just have it brought into the honda dealer here in town and have them check it out and tell me if it has been modded and sixth gear taken out or if my tranny is just stubborn.

 

I am pretty sure 5th goes to 130, and by then its not too quick. Change your oil yet?


sure something could be wrong besides jsut 6th, but by the time you pay the dealer to tear it down you are halfway to another engine...

I am getting false nuetrals between 5 and 6 and everything else is super smooth....

1 down, 5 up don't forget you are starting the count in first gear.
So if you are trying to count to 6 up and expecting another, that would be 7th gear.

Sixth gear was shredded...I went ahead and had the motor and tranny rebuilt

 

wow, hmm guess mine is probably on the way out too....

so whats a ball park estimate on an engine/tranny rebuild?

 

my buddy trever is doing it for me all I have to do is pay him back for the parts so im not sure yet
